Villa Poststuben
In 1972 the brothers Fritz and Hans Schittenhelm acquired the “Poststuben” hotel and restaurant from the previous owner, the family Schlosser.
Though a lot has happened since we have kept to tradition and we can proudly say that in our family owned business both guests and staff feel at home.
Hans-Jürgen Schittenhelm qualified as master chef at the college of gastronomy in Heidelberg. Still owning it today he took over the “Poststuben” in 1982. Together with his wife Jutta and mother Lore he is your friendly host.
The full modernisation of restaurant and kitchen was completed in 1989 followed by the hotel rooms shortly after.
In 1992 our restaurant was extended to include further space for functions and parties.
In 1997 we celebrated the Silver Jubilee of our opening in 1972. Naturally over such a long period of time one gathers together quite a number of regular guests. In recognition of this we organised a very special Jubilee event.
Continuity, according to Hans-Jürgen Schittenhelm is an important requirement for the happiness of the guests. No surprise then that our chef Hans-Jürgen Alter (since 1990) as well as Marianne Bambach (since 1991) are such important members of our team.
As our kitchen provides excellent learning opportunities, we are also recognised to provide trainings for aspiring chefs. Over the years we have helped 10 young women and men to get a good start into the profession.
Young Andreas has also taken gastronomy as his chosen profession. But before Andreas can take up the reins here, he is learning his trade in some of the best houses in Germany that will surely stand him in good stead when he returns to Auerbach.
In May 2009, replaced by Andreas Schittenhelm his master's certificate.
The Villa Poststuben extends the Poststuben 2010 its range of hotels with superior double and single rooms and an apartment for long term guests a conference room UDN.
